Lovin' the Work

We met a really neat older couple the other day. The elders told us about an apartment for rent that they had seen and we need another one because we are getting another set of elders here in Narra so we went and checked it out . It looked ok so we went back to the owners with the missionaries and signed up a rental agreement with them. As we finished Sister Gwilliam said "we just have one more question for you; would like to know more about our church?" They said, " yes, we would", so  the elders gave them a Book of Mormon, asked them to read the introduction and made an appointment to come back. We went back on the following Wednesday and they had read the introduction read the restoration pamphlet they had also left for them and even read and understood well enough that they knew that Moroni was Mormon's son. The elders kept trying to teach the first lesson which is about the restoration but this couple had read and understood so well that they had a hard time knowing what to teach because they they already knew it! Any way it was great and when the missionaries invited them to be baptized they said, "well if we find out it's true that's what we will have to do". Tonight we went and taught them again and they feel really good about what they are learning. They said they will have to talk more because it's hard to change religion so late in  their lives but we are hoping they will come to know the truth and have the strength to accept it. Yesterday Sheila Corpuz was baptized! She is the wife of the man I mentioned in a former entry that I met in the market and wanted to be taught. Her parents joined the Church a couple of months ago and are really strong and doing well. She bore her testimony after her baptism and through tears of joy told how she knew the Lord had been guiding her to this point in her life. She is really happy and so are we! Her husband is also progressing and wants to be baptized but has missed coming to church a few times so we need to wait a bit longer for him to be ready. Hopefully next month. We love them so much and hope he can commit to come to Church and be baptized! We also have been spending a lot of time lately working with the branch and district leaders helping them to organize home and visiting teaching, hold their meetings, find some of their lost sheep and clean up their records. We are really busy but are loving the work and can't believe the time is going by so fast. We surely will miss these wonderful people when it comes time to leave. There's nothing like being involved in the Lord's work!
